Windows black screen on boot

I try to boot into Windows XP Pro

I chose:

Safe Mode - Result:
multi<0>disk<0>rdisk<0>partition<1>\WINDOWS\system32\hal.dll
multi<0>disk<0>rdisk<0>partition<1>\WINDOWS\system32\KDCOM.DLL

All other modes besides Enable Boot Logging, Directory Services Restore Mode, and Debugging Mode give a black screen with power and fans. Keyboard is non-responsive.

I'm thinking a fresh Windows install, but I wanted to see what else could be options first.

Hi daustin,

Most likely a fresh Windows install is what's needed, but I would recommend testing the HDD as well, a bad HDD may be the issue, causing Windows to go corrupt.  Here is a post to the tools we use for testing the HDD as well as the RAM:
